چکیده

Occurrence and abundance of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the agricultural fields in and around Mysore district was studied. Almost all the sampling sites belong to semi-arid region. Most of the crops growing in this region were sampled. AMF percent colonization and spore density and species richness was assessed. Soil samples exhibit varied physico-chemical parameters which correlates with AMF percent colonization and spore count. Four AMF genera namely Glomus, Acaulospora, Gigaspora and Scutellospora were identified by spore morphological characteristics. A total of about 45 AMF morphotypes were observed. Among 45 species 6 species were could not able to identify. Genus Glomus was found to be very dominant by exhibiting 19 species followed by Acaulospora of about 10 species. Spore count and species richness was found higher in host plants like maize and sorghum. Higher percent colonization, spore density and species richness were found in samples like YLDR, KRN and HNSR which were collected from irrigated agricultural fields.

ARBUSCULAR MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI OF WHEAT FIELDS IN THE GOLESTAN PROVINCE

For identification of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), in the late springs of 2004 and 2005, wheat fields in the GolestanProvince (northeast of  Iran near the Caspian sea) surveyed and root cores sampled. After extraction of AMF spores and staining roots, 19 AMF identified as follow: Entrophospora infrequens, Glomus caledonium, G. clarum, G. constrictum, G. deserticola, G. eburneum, G. etuni...

Effect of Arbuscular Mycorrhiza fungi application on distribution of phosphorus forms in rhizosphere soils of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)

Appropriate management of soil phosphorus (P) fertility in highly calcareous soils of Iran as around the world should rely upon sound knowledge about the phosphorus reserve and its bioavailability. Despite numerous reports on the positive effects of vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizae (VAM) fungi on phosphorus uptake which is associated to Ectomycorrhiza as a branch of two major branches of group ...

Caspian Coastal Forests: Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Understory Vegetation

Moist and temperate Caspian forests are associated with a diversity of soil types and topography.  Although, natural history and ecological attributes of the Caspian vegetation is well-documented, little is known about mycorrhizae of the Caspian (Hyrcanian) flora. Samples of herbaceous plant species were collected from 4 pre-determined altitudes (-13 upto about 1500m above sea level, appro...

Effect of biochar on nitrogen retention in soil under corn plant inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi

Maintaining the levels of nitrogen in agricultural fields to ensure crop yield performance is challenging due to the complex dynamics of nitrogen transformation in soil. Nitrogen is mainly taken up by plant roots in the form of nitrate, but it is considered as an environmental pollutant that threatens human and animal health. Therefore, it is necessary to use adsorbent compounds to retain nitra...

Investigation on Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) associated with Crocus sativus in Khorasan Razavi and Southern Khorasan provinces (north east of Iran)

Iran is the largest producer of saffron (Crocus sativus) in the world. More than 80% of higher plant species have a mutual relationship with mycorrhizal fungi, which enhances the plant growth and its productivity. With identification of native arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and their application, it could be possible to expand saffron cultivated area and increase the performance of arable lands. ...
